Wolf Capital Founder Sentenced to 5 Years for Crypto Fraud
A U.S. court has sentenced the founder of Wolf Capital crypto Trading to five years in prison following a fraudulent scheme that promised investors unrealistic returns. The Department of Justice revealed that the defendant, Ford, must forfeit over $1 million and repay $170,000 in restitution.
From January to August 2023, Ford lured investors with promises of daily returns between 1-2%, translating to an annualized rate of roughly 547%. These claims were disseminated via the company’s website and social media platforms like Telegram and Discord. Behind the scenes, Ford misrepresented the firm’s financial health, diverted funds for personal use, and concealed substantial trading losses.
Even as the scheme unraveled—marked by delayed withdrawals and discrepancies in investor accounts—Ford continued soliciting funds. The operation collapsed in August 2023 when he abruptly shut down the platform, triggering a flood of complaints to federal agencies. In his plea deal, Ford admitted to knowingly deceiving investors to prolong the fraud.
